Car Fire - Grand Hotel carpark - Nyah West
Ben's car got set alight by his ex-girlfriend. We had seconds to spare to move our cars in time before it was fully alight. Poor Ben had just put everything that ever mattered to him in the boot of the car the night before as he had moved out of the pub, so he lost everything - important irreplaceable photos of his deceased family and newborn photos of his kids, war memorials that had been given to him from his grandfather and who knows what else. Thankfully noone was hurt, if my car had caught on fire, with my gas tank, they believe it would've started a mass-fire in the pub. Ben's car didn't have much fuel in it, so it didn't do any damage to the surrounds. The ex was put in jail for a couple of days but was released, and hopefully she pleads guilty so that the witnesses don't have to come back in a year's time to testify, as they are all backpackers from other countries. It is doubtful that anything long-term will happen to the ex as noone was injured... the fact that she put 50 backpackers at risk doesn't come into it. The previous weekend she had smashed the windows of the car but it obviously wasn't enough to stop there.
